Christian Bernard Singer
Christian Bernard Singer is a Canadian eco-artist, curator, writer, and educator. Born in Paris and raised in New York City, he began his career as a company dancer with Laura Foreman’s Composers and Choreographers Theater. As an environmental artist known for Queer ecology, Singer combines living mosses, pine needles, and plant life with materials like glass, clay, bronze, found objects, and video to create immersive installations and land art. His works reflect on consciousness, identity, place, memory, and the passage of time, while exploring humanity’s dissociation from nature.
Singer teaches sculpture at the Ontario College of Art and Design University (OCADU) and has served as a Peer Review Committee Member for the Canada Council for the Arts and the Ontario Arts Council. He holds an AOCAD from OCAD and an MFA from The New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University. Bilingual in English and French, he has curated over 90 exhibitions and written about art for international publications, including three major retrospectives.
